The nitty gritty
Year 1, Level 1 Music Production. Basic introduction to digital production. Learn to navigate a digital audio workstation (DAW) and learn to create and record your own tracks. Learners will complete an assessment to recap key information of music production and recording environments. Our bespoke music production classrooms allow learners to work independently, creatively and creates room for less intensive collaborative work.
Year 2, Level 2 Music Production. Learners will build on existing Level 1 skills and apply them in their work with newly learnt advanced production techniques. Learners will continue to familiarise themselves on a DAW and better understand recording environments. We have since expanded our recording facilities and learners now have access to two industry-standard recording studios, making sessions even more educational and creative.
Year 3, Level 3 Music Production. Learners will undertake music production sessions at an A-Level standard. Their Level 1 + 2 skills will be applied to their production and learn complex production and recording techniques to further enhance their projects. Learners can utilise any of the classrooms/studios between the SORM facilities for their creative benefit.
Level 1 Life Skills – Personal Development. Learners will identify personal strengths and weaknesses, identify their own skills and ways they can improve said skills, and develop ways for self-improvement. Sessions are creatively balanced with worksheets, arts and practical work.
Level 2 Life Skills – Further Personal Development. Learners will continue to work on their own personal skills, varied ways of self-improvement using more holistic and practical approaches in sessions.
Level 3 Life Skills – Interpersonal Skills and Personal Learning Goals/Development – Learners will be introduced to more advanced strategies for identifying their own skills and how they can be improved. Learners will apply their Level 1 and 2 skills for this A-Level standard course, and complete two assessments. All levels are creatively balanced with academic, practical and holistic approaches.
Life Skills at SORM.
Calm classroom.
Our classroom has been designed to be a inviting calm environment. Paired with our tutors diverse approach to education, students have the oportunity to really learn about things that aren’t taught at school. An example of this is learning to take care of SORM like tending our garden and learning to look after the fish in the classroom. This is a great way to instill a sense of empathy and responsibility.
SEG and NOCN qualifications.
We offer nationally recognised qualifications to enable students to develop emotionally and socially while also working on their interpersonal skills. In turn this enables our students to overcome barriers in their lives while also earning real qualifications at the same time.
The skills we develop here will be taken into the wider community and create the ability to succeed in all walks of life.
Green Fingered.
We have a bespoke outdoor garden which was designed and created by our students.
We want our students to create a connection with nature and understand that growing and nurturing plants is a way of learning patience and understanding that things take time.
The space is also a great place to relax and is available when someone needs to self regulate.
Rethinking Waste.
One of our latest successful projects was about peoples understanding of waste.
We want our students to understand how their use of waste packaging and food affects the places we live and how areas are much nicer when they are free from rubbish.
This is our current project and we couldn’t be happier with how things are going.
