Community & Disability Workshops
SORM works closely with other organisations such as Supported Lives, Affinity Trust, Leeds City Council Adult Services, Bradford Respite Services and Group Homes. The list is always growing and we are always looking for new people to help and support.
We provide a safe, secure and fun environment for people explore their musical talents, as well as learn new ones.
You are welcome to come and visit us and have a look around with your support worker. John and Tony are available to assist, as well as our volunteers.
Sorm caters for anyone with a learning disability, wether they are mobile or wheelchair bound, & whatever their abilities we can find something that they can join in with. We have various respite clients & supported living clients who access our studio with their support workers on a regular basis. The cost for this is the same as everyone else. We do not charge extra because you may need more help.
Thursday and Friday mornings, we have Supported Lives coming in to do group sessions in music. This includes music, instrument and vocal lessons. The music projects have given the Supported Lives members a confidence boost, so much so that they have created their own band and now they’re working on performing at live shows. Their first performance will be SORM Fest, and they will be performing live at more shows throughout the year.
Tuesdays, we have High Park School who come to to the studio to do group music sessions. These sessions are monitored and it’s great to see the students progressing every week.
Wednesday evenings we have the SORM Rocks, which is music sessions, social activities and one-to-one teaching. This runs from 5:30PM to 8:30PM.
School of Rock and Media also work with Lifeways Community Care Ltd, going out to respite Centres to do group sessions. This includes karaoke sessions, singing lessons and percussion and guitar sessions.
Sorm offer work placements for adults and young adults in transision from Leeds Adult Services and Bradford Adult Services
